Damaged APCN2 Undersea Cable Slow Downs Internet in Asia
The undersea APCN2 cable owned by consortium of 26 telecom operators from 14 countries had damaged on Wednesday 12 August 2009 and causing internet connection slowdowns in Asian countries especially Singapore.
SingTel, one of the consortium member said that the damaged caused by Typhoon Morakot which swept nearby Taiwan. The consortium has started repairing work and expects to be finished on 13 August 2009 evening.
The APCN2 also had damaged before back in 2006 when a big earthquake hit Taiwan which causing internet disconnection for several countries in Asia.
